Danish Vintage Coffee Table With Raised Edge, 1960s Danish coffee table from the sixties with a stylish design IIIums Bolighus . The Danish Beijenkorf The table has a small raised edge on 2 sides. The vintage coffee table is made of teak. The coffee table is in good condition. Illums Bolighus is a Danish department store chain with branches in Scandinavia and Germany. Since 1997, the group has held the designation Kongelig Hofleverandør (royal purveyor to the court). History It was founded in 1925 under the name BO ("Living") by the Danish businessman Kaj Dessau (1897-1987). The branch on Amagertorv, part of Copenhagen's main shopping street Strøget, was opened in 1928. The concept of furniture store BO was unique at the time: textiles and furniture were offered for sale in combination with art, for which there was collaboration with the Swedish artist and businesswoman Brita Drewsen (1887–1983). Dessau remained as owner-director until 1941. In that year, the company was taken over by the Berg and Trock-Jansen families and Svend Illum, the son of Anton Carl Illum (1863-1938), the founder of the Illum department store. The name was then changed to Illums Bolighus A/S. In 1985, Illums Bolighus was taken over by Royal Copenhagen, of which the Carlsberg Group was a major shareholder. Since then, the company has had no connection with the Illum department store. Since its sale in 2005 by Royal Scandinavia (owner of Royal Copenhagen since 1997), it has been owned by an investment group led by the CEO, Henrik Ypkendanz, who owns 50% of the shares. Expansion The facade of the headquarters on Strøget. The main building in central Copenhagen was designed in 1961 by the architect Kay Kørbing. In addition to the store on Amagertorv, Illums Bolighus also has stores at Copenhagen International Airport Kastrup (two) and further on in Tivoli, Field's Shopping Center in Ørestad, Kongens Lyngby and Hørsholm. A franchise branch has been in Aarhus since 2008. In the autumn of 2006, the first foreign branch was opened in Oslo, followed in 2010 by a branch in Hamngatan in central Stockholm, in 2012 in the Emporia shopping center in Malmö and in 2016 on Neuer Wall in Hamburg.
