At Ahu, we are inspired by the shamanic roots and traditions that underpin the cultures of Asia Minor, and the value that their populations attribute to talismans and symbols of luck. We create custom and limited edition collectible design pieces that are functional as well as sculptural, bringing stories of good fortune and a sense of well-being into people's homes. Istanbul’s rich history of craftsmanship is celebrated in each piece which is made in third generation small workshops scattered around the city. We work within a language of artisanship that is not only relevant to the place of Ahu’s origin, but also respectful of the longevity of the pieces. Mixing traditional woodworking techniques, luxurious durable materials and modern finishes, we strive to make timeless and exquisite pieces that can become modern heirlooms. Our sculptural Ka’Ve tables are designed to be statement pieces for any room, with their shapes drawn directly from co-founder Eda Akaltun’s fluid marbling artworks. The Ka’Ve 01 Nazar is handmade in a limited edition, with a high gloss lacquer table top and an accent molded leg. The henna stained walnut wooden legs have brass detailing on the feet. Edition of 12 + 4 AP. An individual, engraved metal plaque displays the edition number of each piece.
