About the Item
Composed of three “Tectonic” plates that interlock and merge as one organic form. The three elements can be separated and float apart as they would in nature, the design captures and conveys our shifting world at a macro level.
TECTRA explores the concept that everything from materials and ideas, to anatomic elements, is in a perpetual state of flux and that change is the only constant. Being a metamorphic rock, marble is produced by other rock types forming interlocking crystals making it an ideal stone to represent the concepts of fluctuation.
What appears as solid and static is not, paradoxically, marble perfectly captures this paradox, a concept reinforced by TECTRA and its three individual parts which combined like interlocking crystals or pieces of a puzzle forming something larger than the sum of its parts.
