About the Item

Voluptuous and ripe The Opus Pear coffee table’s charm and beauty work in both modern and traditional settings for residential or commercial settings. The Opus Pear coffee table is part of the Fruit Series and continues the artist’s fascination and joy in working with nature's small wonders. Hollow-core stack lamination is the construction technique used to create this brilliant work. The Opus Pear coffee is created using the hollow-core stack lamination process, where smaller pieces of wood are glued together to form a larger piece or "blank." Once the blank is completed, it is rough sculpted with chainsaws and automobile disc grinders to its shape. From there, smaller, and gentler power tools are used to refine the work and then meticulously worked by hand with files, rasps, and scrapers. The final phase is hours of sanding and the application of five to six coats of Danish Oil over a two to three-week period. Details • The Opus Pear Coffee Table can be ordered in other woods and finishes. • A pint of Danish Oil and maintenance instructions are included. • The stem is repositionable, removable, and secured with rare earth magnets. • For interior use only. • Net weight of the coffee table is approximately 125 pounds.
