Pierre Chapo 'T22 Bow' Handcrafted Modular Low Table in Elm for Chapo Création.
Pierre Chapo was one of France’s most celebrated modern woodworkers and furniture designers. His sculptural and organic forms combine French modernist refinement with a traditional emphasis on craftsmanship. Today his made-to-order solid wood furniture continues to be handcrafted in France at the Chapo Création workshop run by Zoran Chapo, who embraces his grandfather's commitment to simplicity, sustainability, sincerity and creation.
Originally designed in 1972, 'T22' is one of Chapo's rare freeform designs. An architectural work and artistic treasure, it features two totally modular parts. In true Chapo style, it is a functional and versatile table.
This listing is for the 'T22' coffee table in elm. Lead time is currently 4-6 months.
Also available to order in unlimited quantities with extended lead times possible. Please note that the wood's grain, color and features vary from item to item due to the organic nature of the material. Finished with a mixture of natural linseed oils and turpentine.

Pierre Chapo
Pierre Chapo, who was born in Paris, France, in July 1927, was initially interested in becoming a professional painter. However, after a chance meeting with a shipbuilder who introduced him to wood and woodworking, Chapo changed his focus and decided to study architectural studies at the prestigious École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris.
After graduating, Chapo and his wife, the sculptor and painter Nicole Lormier, started traveling extensively through Scandinavia and Central America. Among the many places the couple visited was Taliesin West, the home and studio of Frank Lloyd Wright — a visit that had a lasting influence on Chapo’s future work and designs.
