Éric Gizard
Éric Gizard, once described by renowned French interior designer Andrée Putman as “flamboyant and discreet, refined and reasonable,” is known for creating contemporary furniture that nods to the past.
Gizard studied at École Duperré in Paris from 1982 to ’84, before landing jobs as an archivist for B.E.D. Architects and Michel Boyer Architects. From the mid-1980s to 1990, he was in charge of the design column of CTY magazine. During this period, Gizard also worked as a freelance designer before establishing his own firm, EGA.
As the founder and director of EGA, Gizard spearheaded numerous interior design projects worldwide, including offices in Shanghai, tea rooms in Korea, apartments in Japan, boutiques in Paris and private residences and shops throughout Europe.
In addition to his interiors, Gizard incorporated his characteristic lightness, fluidity and clarity into furniture and lighting designs. Strong contrasts, fusions of materials and colors and the use of chiaroscuro (contrasting light and shadow) feature in many of his sofas, canapes and sectionals. In Gizard’s handcrafted Bronze Sauvage table lamp, an apple-tree branch doubles as a tripod and sculptural art, while his side tables, sideboards, buffets, cabinets and coffee tables embrace the clean lines and bold symmetry of Scandinavian modernism.
Gizard’s work has not gone unnoticed in the world of furniture design. In 2005, in association with Putman, Gizard was named designer of the year by Paris’s Maison and Objet fair. He has also collaborated extensively with brands including Hermès, Steiner, Salviati, Roche Bobois and Hennessy.

- Low Tables Triptych in Bronze by Eric GizardBy Éric GizardLocated in MONTROZIER, FRFrom those three side tables, 560 millions of years are contemplating us. Done in Bronze by a "Living Heritage Company" workshop, each table sculpted represents a Dickinsonia fossil in patina bronze. This triptych of stacking tables is coming from the depth of History. This handcrafted side tables made in France is patined in black. Each stacking table is signed and numbered. "One day, I found a piece of apple tree branch. Its elegant, simple and natural form gave me the idea to keep it and paint it black to give it a more dramatic side and why not to enter in a curiosity cabinet. For a long time I looked at this tree branch and told myself thta someday I will do something with it. My meeting and exchanges with Fanny and Léandre Carbonneaux and their knowledge of the know how made me want to complete my idea. We agreed on the shape and the bronze became the ideal material. That’s how the Bronze Sauvage (Wilde Bronze ») collection was born and how Plumbum decided to edit it. From dreams to reality, a pedestal table, a lamp, two cosy objects, signed and numbered that will live next to you and will illuminate your dreams" Éric Gizard. Eric Gizard was a Andrée Putman collaborator and is well known for his poetic work. Bronze Sauvage collection gathers a lamp, a simple low table and a group of three stacking tables triptych. The three pieces of this triptych can be sold separately, see Dickinsonia tables...Category

- Sankao Coffee Table in Ash Wood by Henka LabLocated in Geneve, CHSankao coffee table in ash wood by Henka Lab. Limited edition Dimensions: H 42 x W 120 x L 120 cm. Materials: ash wood, charcoal color, oil, natural wax finish. Series limited to 250 signed and numbered copies. Each piece of furniture is packed in a wooden box for maximum care. Sankao coffee table is an elegant, daring and cutting edge piece of furniture based on an evolutionary concept of circular geometries, which grow and develop as a living being until they manage to adapt to an environment and a function. The purity of the original shape is altered through simple transformations. By doing so, both structure and utility are solved maintaining the original essence, becoming a more complex and organic object. Henka: From Japanese ?? “to change into”. Lab: A room or building where experimentation and research take place. HenkaLab is an award winning studio where shape experimentation takes place. Inspired by nature, my work emulates evolutionary processes, subjecting pure geometries to certain tensions, obtaining new living forms that fit a specific use. Each piece produced through this process has been patiently hand-shaped and crafted to the highest standards. Signed and numbered limited pieces. Pablo Vidiella...Category
