Spectacular Pucci De Rossi Sculptural Brutalist Metal and Glass Coffee Table

About the Item

From a very prestigious Palm Springs estate's original owner. The table was custom ordered in the rare and most expensive matte bronze finish. This gorgeous Pucci De Rossi (1947-2013) coffee table, Signed and dated (Pucci De Rossi, 1987, Dolin Stuart). the table comes with the original , very thick oval glass. The table as an art piece, is different and interesting from all four sides. Mr. De Rossi's work has incresed in value and is more sought after than ever after his death in 2013. Pucci De Rossi. Sculptor and Italian designer (Vérone 1947). Pupil of American sculptor H.B Walker, he begins his artistic activity in 1971 with metal sculptures, then works with wood and recycled materials. He exhibits in Italy, in Milan, Venice, Padoue before settling in Paris in 1977. In 1980 he exhibits there for the first time. Sculptor of ideas, he takes forms and materials and, with imagination and humor, turns them into daily objects.He composes sculptures by juxtaposing elements of furniture and without losing his identity as a sculptor, design a useful piece of furniture, unique or in limited series, based on irony or the diversion of it's function. In 1985,he exhibits at the galerie Néotu ("onzes lampes"and "un tapis n'est pas un tableau") where he often present his work.After a long stay in Los Angeles, he carries out a series of personal exhibitions where he affirms his techniques:assemblages, patinas, cabinet work. The collection Mobili Brutti, presented in 1991 at the Néotu gallery in Paris and New York, followed by a personal exhibition at VIA in 1993, establishes the reknown of his furniture creation. He diversifies its activity: Jewelry collection in Beverly Hills, furnishing of the Barbara Bui boutique, glasswork at the international Research center on Glass (CIRVA) in 1994 and 1995. Pucci De Rossi returns to sculpture in 2003 with the exhibition "têtes bizardes"(metropolitan hunting trophies) at the Anne de villepoix gallery. His last exhibition was at the Downtown/françois laffanour gallery in november 2011: For this show, we find latest works in the pure Pucci De Rossi style, meaning the they come halfway between art object and furniture. but unlike the Baroque look which Pucci has got us accustomed to, mixtures of wood, metal and recycled materials, often playing ironically with appropriation, this new output has been conceived exclusively, and for the first time, in a material which coks a snook at time: the bronze that has been used since time immemorial to immortalize the great figures of history.
