Unique Italian Gilt and Forged Iron Coffee Table by Sculptor, Giovanni Banci
About the Item
An important work of furniture by Florentine sculptor, Giovanni Banci, (Italy, 1942-1999).
In this coffee/ cocktail table Banci's imagination and adept craftsmanship sculpts the iron into dramatic curving organic forms that delicately and poetically balance each other. The iron is forcefully hand-hammered in a Brutalist fashion leaving the deep iron marks on the frame and hand gilt.
One can see the ancient Etruscan derived influences in Banci's works along with startling, fresh, original Modern influences, similar to the Alberto and Diego Giacometti.
