Elegant 1950s coffee table with original sandblasted edge glass top, designed by William Watting for Fristho, circa 1955. European walnut frame with brass hardware.
William Watting was a Danish furniture designer who lived from 1926 to 1958. He was known for his modern and functional designs that incorporated both traditional and contemporary elements. Watting was particularly interested in the use of natural materials such as wood, leather, and metal, and his designs often featured clean lines and simple shapes. He worked with a variety of Danish furniture manufacturers during his career, including Mikael Laursen, Carl Hansen & Son, and Fritz Hansen. Some of his most well-known designs include the "Rungstedlund" chair, the "Contour" chair, and the "Kassandra" dining chair.
