About the Item

An Italian carved-wood console table, which retains its original painted finish, from the 18th century. This antique table from Italy has a rectangular-shaped and faux-marble painted top, which slightly overhangs the apron below that houses a single drawer, flanked within fluted sides posts, and with a meandering "T" shape, 1 turn Greek key pattern trim, creating a large decorative perimeter banding about the skirt, with center plaque adorn in an intertwined circular motif, and each corner is embellished with carved flower heads. The drawer is fitted with a pair of metal pulls and an escutcheon key hole at center. The table raised upon four squared and flute-carved legs, each with concave/profiled knees that gently taper towards their spaded feet. The original finish of the faux marble top is primarily black, with black continuing to accentuate the various trim of the table, along with a background in warm gold and umber tones, with a few subtle areas of green. Note that there have been some minor touch-ups to the paint on top (in past) and that all four legs have been repaired at one point. This 18th century Italian table, approximately 4 feet in width, will make a handsome console with great storage and display options; perhaps useful within an entry hall, living area, or dining room.
