About the Item
A pair of rare Irish mahogany console tables with Carrara marble tops are set above an elaborate apron intricately carved with acanthus leaves and shells. The apron flows into strong cabriolet legs that terminate in ball-and-claw feet. Each leg features a prominent shell carving at the knee above a finely executed bellflower motif, adding graceful detail to the robust supports. The side rails carry a continuous acanthus-carved design that unifies the composition.
The marble tops exhibit signs of replacement at an early date, with subtle differences in patination and surface wear compared to the wood below.
