About the Item

An Exceptional Quality Late 19th Century Mahogany Deim Lune Pier Table, Or Console Side Table, Of Very Useful Small Proportions, Having Exceptionally Figured Veneers Throughout, The Top With Crossbanded Edge And Profusely Inlaid Decoration Incorporating Central Set Urn Flanked By Superb Marquetry Floral Decoration, Over One Drawer To Further Inlaid Frieze And Elegant Square Tapering Legs, United By Inlaid Concave Undertier.  Stamped To Drawer - "Edwards & Roberts ". This very elegant table is incredibly useful as well as boasting great elegance and sophistication.  The inlaid decoration is meticulously laid out, somehow being present on such large parts of the table without being too much and taking over. The timbers used in the construction are the best quality and highest grade which would have been available at the time and still retain a good colour as well as their great figuring to this day. In terms of size it is very small. Perfect for just about any space one wishes and would add to any room it is placed in. Somewhow despite being so small it also retains great strength and sturdiness and there is even a drawer which can be used of course.  Every last detail is carefully thought out and extremely well executed by some incredibly skilled craftsman as one would expect from Edwards & Roberts.  The London firm of Edwards & Roberts were one of the most well known London furniture makers from 1845-1899. Taking influence from the likes of Chippendale, Sheraton and Hepplewhite, the company gained a good reputation for elegance and quality. Much of their furniture is clearly stamped making it easy to identify. As with all items which we offer for sale this 19th century table has been attended to in our workshops, by our highly skilled, trained antique furniture restorers and received a traditional wax polish finish to ensure that it is absolutely ready to be placed straight into a home, or office environment. Circa 1890. Height 29.5in. Width 22.5in.  Depth 12in.
