1910, French Oak Escritoire

About the Item

This oak escritoire offers a secluded workspace. Built in France circa 1910, contoured partitions shield the desktop, creating a bubble of privacy ideal for personal correspondence and focused thought. Above the tabletop, an array of small drawers present an organized space for stationary, while curved envelope holders provide a nook for unopened letters. Wooden cup handles, carved with a design of scrolling leaves, adorn the lower drawers. The lower right hand drawer is separated by wooden dividers to form a filing cabinet; a small platform pulls out on the upper left hand side to extend the amount of desk space available. These thoughtful details, combined with the beautiful natural finish and expressive grain of the restored oak, make this vintage writing desk a find to treasure.
