About the Item

Breathtaking, one of kind Art Nouveau Palisander Writing Desk from the very early 20th century in Vienna around 1905. This impressive antique desk is not just a "normal" writing desk - much more, this is a masterpiece of furniture art. As part of the inventory of an old Vienesse manor house, this elaborately crafted office desk was commissioned by a very wealthy family and is an absolutely unique item. Artfully designed and made with only the finest materials like mahogany or this super dark amazing palisander veneer, this exceptional office desk convinces with its extraordinary quality. This incredible Vienna Secession´s writing desk provides three lockable drawers all adorned by marvelous, custom made brass applications that look like faces (picture #6). Even the special made locks have been marked with the initials - see picture#8. Two large side compartments - one on the left which is divided in two compartments and one on the right holding three pull-out drawers (all made of solid mahogany) offer more practical space. Both doors of the side compartments are highlighted by outstanding looking patterns made with delicate inlayed brass stripes and absolute extraordinary designed burl wood fields with different shimmering mother of pearl inlays. The beautiful table top which shows the still original leather pad, combined with a traditional hand-polished shellac finish and the brass framed base finalizes the matchless look of this masterpiece of an Art Nouveau writing desk.
