Ayrton Desk

About the Item

The Ayrton Desk has an abundance of character and effortless style. Boasting elegant lines, the desk features a floating drawer, joined with contrasting elm splines. A modern statement in any home, its minimal design marries two contrasting yet complementary wood types - rich elm and warm beech - and features thoughtful brass detailing. The desk is designed and handmade-to-order by our Designer and Maker, Daniele Barco. The timber is sustainably sourced from local trees that have been felled to make way for urban development. The Ayrton collection started life as an exclusive edition circular design collection created from reclaimed teak donated by Imperial College London and sustainably sourced Douglas Fir. This edition is faithful to the original design in carefully chosen sustainable materials. It is named after Hertha Ayrton, the first female to publish a paper at the Institution of Electrical Engineering in London and a proud suffragette.
