Carved Walnut and Rosewood Desk with Matching Chair, Italy, 1960

About the Item

A superb Italian walnut and rosewood desk with matching rosewood and leather side chair, made to measure for the villa of an Italian executive in 1960. The rectangular top is covered with the original red leather. The front of the hidden drawer unit is carved with images of writing tools and stationary. The craftsmanship of this piece is exceptionally. The avant-garde modern design in combination with the remarkable carving makes this piece truly exceptional. This is a one-off piece, designed by an interior architect for a villa in the south of Italy. Both the chair and the desk have been used very carefully and remain in excellent vintage condition.
