Large and Impressive Early 20th Century Mahogany Desk

About the Item

A large and impressive early 20th century mahogany desk, the moulded edge top having a green leather writing surface divided into three shaped sections, the front of the desk having an arrangement of nine long graduated mahogany lined drawers with the original brass engraved swan neck handles, turned and fluted columns either side, shaped panelled sides with lovely flame mahogany veneer, the reverse of the desk having carving on each pedestal of the flag of Belize with the Latin motto “Sub Umbra Floreo” which means “I flourish in the shade” which at the time was a British colony, Supported on a plinth base. This desk was more than likely made for a high ranking official possibly to do with the Belize embassy. In excellent condition and has a lovely warm mahogany colour. circa 1900.
