Midcentury Swedish Rolltop Secretary Desk by Egon Ostergaard

About the Item

This iconic midcentury Swedish modern Egon Ostergaard teak cylinder rolltop secretary desk cabinet is circa 1960. The Classic Scandinavian Modern design has clean, Minimalist lines and gentle curves. Wood tone is deep and rich with beautiful natural grain. The rolltop opens on a top compartment with small drawers and cubbies and a slide-out tabletop writing surface. There are three spacious lower drawers with sculpted inset wooden handles. All brass fittings with original key included. This versatile piece is perfect for the living room or home office and can be used as desk, storage cabinet, dresser or bar cabinet. Numbered and marked with Made in Sweden label on underside. Condition Excellent vintage condition with wear consistent with age and use. Some veneer loss on tops of two bottom drawer edges, not readily apparent and only visible when drawers are pulled open (see photo). Small veneer knick on back bottom edge of cabinet (see photo). Key works for rolltop, but works on and off for top drawer. Dimensions W 35.25” x D 18.5” x H 37.75” Desk Height: 28” Knee Clearance: 27”.
