Oak Floa Niche desk by Alexandre Labruyère Current Production Dimensions: W 115 x D 50 x H 77 cm Materials: Oak, deep black wax, natural oil protection. All furniture is made to order and made to measure. In line with its natural inspirations, all raw materials come from the Hauts de France and are used in a reasoned approach. Oak, ash, sycamore, red oak are carefully selected directly to the saw mill. "As if in weightlessness, the form seeks to emancipate itself from its function to gain in lightness." From the English word "floated", Floa refers to the lightness of a levitating element. Here, the top shelf appears to float above the desk, creating the function of the niche. The contrasting color treatment reinforces the impression of suspension that emanates from it, bringing a great lightness, and allowing the furniture to be in the middle of the room, without visually cluttering it. To play between finesse and solidity, the collection is entirely hand carved. Alexandre Labruyère is a designer of contemporary furniture and decorative objects. A jack of all trades, he is passionate about his job as a product designer, and has used each of his professional experiences to discover new facets of his work. He is inspired by his many travels and encounters to imagine, design and manufacture furniture and decorative objects. Initially trained in industrial design, he has explored many fields of object design (transportation, art direction, luggage, etc.) this has enabled him to expand his taste for materials, and his skills in using them. After several years in a large industrial sports company, he trained in 2019 at the Ecole Boulle in Paris, to become a cabinetmaker. This training allows him today to approach many materials with techniques related to this art, giving life to his ideas and concepts.
