About the Item

This is a beautiful dining set, in George III Regency style, comprising an antique Regency style twin pillar dining table, C 1910 in date and a set of ten Vintage Regency style dining chairs. The beautiful flame mahogany twin pedestal dining table sits on a pair of turned columns with reeded tripods which terminate in brass claw castors. It has two extra leaves which can be added and removed as required. The fabulous set of ten Regency style dining chairs have been masterfully crafted in beautiful solid flame mahogany throughout and the finish and attention to detail on display are truly breathtaking. The set comprises eight side chairs and two armchairs, all of which feature an attractive bar back design and 'drop in' seats that are upholstered in the finest fabric. Matching his words to his work, Sheraton designed much mahogany furniture. The qualities that impressed Sheraton are particularly evident in a distinctive pattern of wood called "flame mahogany." The flame figure in the wood is revealed by slicing through the face of the branch at the point where it joins another element of the tree.
