Amaru Bench and Dining Table Set (2023)
Oxidized copper finish benches and table base and lava stone with ceramic glaze
Edition of 3
Amaru Bench and Dining Table Set inspired by the use of a Quechua sacred table to discuss universal matters, different artifacts were used for these sacred reunions such as vessels for hallucinogenic substances to connect with the highest power; the shape of the table resembles these vessels.
The bench form is a very loose play on snake motifs/Quetzalcoatl effigies, most of which are in copper oxidized. Amaru is the word for snake, anta is the word for copper.
About Ian Felton
Fascinated with anthropology and nascent eras of human creation, he explores the juxtaposition of pre-Columbian animism and the urban landscape we encounter today. He currently lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
