About the Item

Alias Dining Frametable 240 in Carrara Marble Top with Polished Aluminium Frame by Alberto Meda Fixed table with structure made of die-cast aluminium elements, with lacquered or polished finish. Top in: - Extra light tempered glass, thickness 12 mm (lying table top, no need for extra fixing) - Glass sandwich, thickness 16 mm (lying table top, no need for extra fixing) - Alveolar aluminium laminated with pre-composed oak veneer, thickness 18 mm - Stratified marble, thickness 16 mm (smooth finish with water-repellent and stain-resistant treatment) Dining: Version with possibility to have the seatplace at the head of the table. Born in Lenno Tremezzina (Como), in 1945, he graduated in mechanical engineering from the Milan Polytechnic. In 1987 and 1989 he designed two historic chairs for Alias: lightlight and softlight. The former is on show in the permanent collection in the MoMA in New York. The first Alias chairs in the frame range date from 1994. These were followed in 2003 by frametable, in 2007 by the out collection teak, in 2009 by the biplane table and in 2011 hydrochiar. In 2013, the oscillating tilt mechanism was introduced on the plus versions of the rolling frame and meeting frame chairs, later to be enhanced by a new soft finish in 2015. He lives and works in Milan.     Outrageous opportunity to own a rare Mario Botta dining or conference table, made in 1986, in mint condition. This Dining table or desk, titled the model "Tesi" from 1986, was designed by Mario Botta and produced by Alias. The perforated sheet steel structure is lacquered in black with a rectangular glass top. This iconic table demonstrates the influence of Le Corbusier, Louis Kahn and Carlo Scarpa on Botta’s work. During the 1980s, famous Swiss architect, Mario Botta worked with the manufacturer Alias as a designer on a whole range of furniture. Botta’s ingenious designs are often composed of simple geometric shapes, while also creating unique complex spaces.
