Antique French Oak Dining Table with Wrought Iron Accents
About the Item
Philosopher Walter Benjamin described iron, steel, and glass as the signs of modernity and the march of progress as he witnessed the fin-de-siecle in Paris. This table, coming from early twentieth-century France is made of bleached oak with neoclassical pillar-like carved legs accompanied by a wrought iron structure painted in contrasting black. This piece of furniture mixes both man-made and natural materials: oak showing its natural surface and texture.
