Antique Oak Table from a Villa in Asti, Piedmont Italy, 19th Century
About the Item
At over 11 feet long (137 ¾ inches), this antique dining table from Italy can seat 10-12 adults comfortably. The table was hand carved from oak wood in the 1800s in Asti, in the Piedmont region of northwestern Italy. It has been stripped of the original finish more recently, resulting in a neutral beige color with a light gray accent.
The two and one quarter inch thick top has some lovely deep graining that is now visible as a result of the stripping process. Two shapely pedestals, with added stability from a robust single plank stretcher and wedge pins, support the massive top. The angular legs in balustrade form with scrolled feet give the table a less linear feel. They are beautifully carved and positioned to maximize seating capacity. Our grand oak table from a villa in Asti, Italy, is the perfect dining table for a large dining room.
