Antonio Citterio for Maxalto "Cuma" Oak Convertible Desk Console / Dining Table

About the Item

ANTONIO CITTERIO FOR MAXALTO "CUMA" BRUSHED OAK CONVERTIBLE CONSOLE-TO-DINING TABLE Unmarked, circa 21st century Item # 112EMB01Q A clever and practical table, this design is as sleek and striking as it is useful. The table rests dormant as a console table with a hanging back leaf, presenting beautifully against the wall where its natural woods create a wonderful modernist accent. This can be conveniently used as a desk, perhaps behind a sofa, before a large window or even stand-alone in the middle of a room by flipping the outer panels of the stretcher to create a triangulated footrest while working on it. When company is visiting and your guests outgrow the dining room, the table converts into a full dining table that seats eight chairs (four on either side) by raising the dropped leaf and sliding the horizontal surface forward on acrylic glides that are set within grooves in the top. It includes convenient cut-outs for lifting the table and moving it around the room. The table is unmarked, but is a well-known design that is still in current production, though rather difficult to actually find and purchase (with pretty lengthy lead-times as well) and is offered for around $ 8,100 USD new. Measurements: 28 7/8" H x 17 3/4" D (when closed) x 35 1/2" D (when opened) x 78 3/4" W Condition Report: Good even overall surface; some minor dings and abrasions here and there; one foot with filled veneer (back left foot, see images); minor shrinkage cracks and losses in veneers; convertible foot rest tightened with screws from the underside in one area. A very nice presentation, ready to place.
