This rare oak dining table is an exceptional piece that is just as stunning as it is hard to come by. The marks of Brutalism can be observed in the unornamented, solid wood, exposed joints, and raw oaken surfaces. The design of this table projects an air of strength and solidity. Each element is well-thought-out to serve a dual purpose, a practical and a design function, exemplified by the shape of the legs and the wooden pattern of the tabletop. The robust rectangular tabletop is supported by an interesting lower structure, including legs shaped like upside down ‘Y’s, that is defined by brutalist simplicity and expert woodworking. The precise connecting and adjusting elements are akin to the Japanese “Kumiki”, a wooden building technology where grooved wood pieces are joined together to form sturdy three-dimensional objects, and making it possible to produce longer pieces.
