English Baroque Laurel Wood Flap Table, 19th Century

About the Item

An 18th-century Gateleg-style English rustic table with oval top and turned legs, made and composed of an oval top with two leaves, resting on a base of turned legs. Round and inclined double table in vinhático wood with an "H" shaped crosshead that connects the intricate notch legs and is joined by crossbars. Dimensions: Height 71 cm closed: 135.5 cm x 43.5 cm Open one flap: 135.5 cm x 94.5 cm Open two flaps: 145 cm x 135.5 cm William and Mary Style: Named after the rulers who ruled England together from 1689 to 1694, the William and Mary style is a variation of fashion that spread throughout Europe. In the time of William and Mary's leadership, the style of furniture changed significantly. This happened because William was Dutch and brought Dutch ideas and workers. The cup-shaped legs lifted the chests of drawers, chairs, and floor tables.
