Exquis. Antique English Bookmatched Rosewood Wm IV Regency Tilt-Top Centre Table

About the Item

Quite possibly the Finest Period William IV Regency Antique English highly figured bookmatched Rosewood Circular Centre, Breakfast, Foyer or Dining Table. Seats up to six comfortably. The top is veneered in extraordinarily fine bookmatched rosewood in a fabulous patinated colour. The top with a finely veneered rosewood apron sits upon a faceted, highly figured rosewood pedestal, ending in a carved collar and which terminates in an incurvate concave triangular base with hairy paw feet on its original "hidden" casters beneath. The top has a tilt-top mechanism with a gorgeous rosewood original block and brass original hardware used in the tilting process to enhance economy of space when not in use. This table would make a stunning entrance foyer piece and is of the perfect proportions for that or many other uses. The table, beneath the apron, has a 25.5" ample kneehole clearance. (The darker colour of the base is indicative of the originality of the table since the top would patinate softly to a faded colour while the base remains more of the original colour as the top acts like an "umbrella" protecting it from patinating and lightening.
