Each manufacturing step is made by hand. A process that creates tiny, almost invisible variations in shadow and light reflection.
The hand-finished surface creates character and uniqueness.
Over time, the material gets older and gains a very personal, beautiful patina through use. The work becomes an artifact, inherited through generations, a witness to exciting life stories.
The immortality of the material, the archaic uniqueness of the natural texture, the iconic design, the special character of manual processing and the future beautiful traces of life of in dignity aging material shape this masterpiece into a unique art object with real character.
FELIX SCHWAKE designs furniture, interiors and architecture. His studio in Bochum, Germany consists of architects, designers and artists.
Felix is a German architect and designer. Based in Bochum, Germany he designs furniture, interiors and architecture. Born in 1984 in Fulda, Germany, after graduating from the Mies-van-der-Rohe-School in Aachen, he studied architecture in Dortmund. At the department of architecture of the University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Dortmund Felix teaches building design and building construction

The everyday world is concretely experienced with all senses. Art seems to be the exact opposite. It lives in the imaginary world of poetry.
Felix Schwake dissolves the everyday function of his pieces (chair, table, bed,...) into "object carriers" (frames, stages, pedestals, backgrounds,...) by abstraction.
Through this transformation of his works into the abstract, he transfers the viewer via the detour of his intellect into his world of poetry.
Felix Schwake wants to make the own self conscious (self-confident) and make the own inner needs and longings, as well as the own habitus designed for the environment, evaluable.
His works abstract the functional environment to make life visible as an exhibit. In the field of tension between "function" and "art", his works enable the own self to become aware of itself.

2011 – Winner: Interior Innovation Award Felix Schwake was born in 1984 in Fulda, Germany. He visited the Mies-van-der-Rohe-School in Aachen and studied architecture in Dortmund. His studio is located in Bochum, Germany where he lives and works.
Abstraction and presentation; the dialogue between stage and subject guides his interventions in architecture as well as in the design of interiors and art.
With a team of architects, designers and artists he develops and realizes architecture, interior and functional art.
At the department of Architecture at "University of Applied Sciences and Arts, FH Dortmund" he holds lectureships for
“Building Design”, “Building Construction” and “visualization & presentation”.
