About the Item

Our collaboration with Francois Gustin launches the spolia edition series. Gustin, who has to date been engaged by such international manufacturers as Dior, Bene or Phillips, took on an extraordinary panel parquet for spolia. This 1863 floor, which comes from a Viennese Ringstrasse Palais, is particularly striking with its configuration of oak, ash and walnut. Gustin used the geometrical play of perspective as a starting point for a skillfully timeless table by designing a suiting framing that holds and highlights the uniqueness of the floor. In detail - Spolia. Edition One, limited to 12 pieces. Measurements: 199 x 115 cm, height 74 cm. Dimensions might vary due to the antique material we are working with for this edition. Material: 150 year old antique panel parquet out of oak, maple and walnut. About Spolia: Spolia’s philosophy is based on an understanding that time and life enrich the quality of a given material. Condition:
Wear consistent with age and use. Minor losses. Minor structural damages. Minor fading. To preserve the unique quality and patina of the object, its surface was carefully restored. The occasional nail, historical fill-ins and scratches are an integral part of the the object. The assembly and inserts were fixed with bone glue.
