French 19th Century Oak Trestle Table

About the Item

A handsome French trestle base table is made using hand cut solid oak boards. The two inch thick top sits over a pair of hourglass shaped pedestals connecting with three stretchers. This table has been recently polished with a French paste wax and is ready for your immediate use. Be sure to take a look at all of the detailed images to get a closer look at the condition. A specialized folding tilt-top table that was used at vineyards and wineries across Europe, providing a place to taste their different vintages. Vendange (grape harvest) tables have a tilting ability so they may be stored in narrow corridors found in wine cellars when not in use. The underside of the table houses a mechanism for bracing the top. The table is nicely raised and supported by its trestle base and thick carved legs.
