Oh. My. Goodness!!!! Look at this absolutely gorgeous Greek Revival style dining table attributed to Bernhardt!!! The base is comprised of three octagon shaped columns with a gray & black marbleized technique covered with laminate and a black painted inverted crown molding around the base of each column. The glass top is an elongated octagon shape or a rectangle with angled corners and beautiful, beveled edges. The base on the columns appears to mirror the bevel on the glass top… it’s really striking!! This table is large enough to be used as an office conference table or you could host up to twelve guests at your dining table (depending on the size of your chairs) AND it has a versatility that can accept and enhance many different styles of dining chairs. It’s a little Hollywood Regency and a little Greek Revival in style but would blend with or stand in juxtaposition to a myriad of design styles!
Bernhardt Furniture was established in 1889 by John Mathias Bernhardt and has been going strong for over 125 years. He spent many years out west in Oregon Territory. After a serious illness, traveling back home to Lenoir, North Carolina and working as a logger in the densely forested foothills of Grandfather Mountain. He went to work for Caldwell Land and Lumber Company and while working there he convinced them to build a railroad to move lumber and supplies. He then purchased his own sawmill and began buying timber. The next step of manufacturing his own furniture followed soon after bringing the birth of Bernhardt Furniture. He became known as a man of integrity, giving back to his community and for producing high quality furniture. A legacy was born. It was carried on and improved upon by his sons, George Bernhardt and John Christian Bernhardt, and eventually his grandson, Alex Bernhardt Sr. Through the years they grew, expanded, diversified, bought other companies, sold other companies, created divisions, and let them go. Two important names in all the comings and goings were Flair and Hibriten. Bernhardt Furniture remains a family-owned company with Alex Bernhardt Jr. who is now the 4th generation to be involved. They continue John Mathias’ legacy of integrity, high-quality furnishings, and giving back to their community.
A dining table this gorgeous won’t last long… Don’t hesitate, make it yours!!

The tabletop is round with a gorgeous dark cherry finish, and it’s mounted on the famous universal pedestal base which they designed to accommodate many different length tabletops. This one is black with an aluminum spider attachment. And, although the manufactured date on this table is 2007, it was first introduced by Charles and Ray Eames in 1961. Goes to show the genius in the design that is still sought-after over the years! And talk about versatility! It would be great in an office as a conference table, or it would be equally as fabulous in your dining or game room. And, with Eames’ system approach to design, the table breaks down for easy shipping and moving! It is a beautiful and classic table that will host many options of dining or office chairs. It’s definitely an AWESOME piece of furniture thanks to the genius that was Charles and Ray Eames. Charles Eames was born in St. Louis, Missouri in 1907. Ray Kaiser Eames was born in Sacramento, California in 1912. They met at Cranbrook Academy of Art in Michigan and were married in 1941. They moved together to California and continued their design work they began together at Cranbrook. A commission, which they acquired from the government during WWII to produce molded plywood splints and stretchers, launched a career producing iconic mid-century modern furnishings which are still fresh and sought after today. The Eames and their association with Herman Miller were the partnership of the century. If you want to learn more about Charles and Ray please visit Eames Office, the Eames Official website.
