Kepler’s Table
About the Item
Kepler was a famous astronomer in the 17th century. After 30 years of observation of Venus and Mars, he was convinced their orbits were elliptical. He discovered a geometric relation between the size and the period of the planets. In this table, Kepler’s laws for planetary motion are shown in the pattern of the Rosewood top. The support of this table is shaped with many thin layers of Black Walnut, carrying Keplers laws into the 21 century!
With this project, my profession shifted permanently from astronomy to furniture making. After searching for secrets of the stars, now life and death of trees are central to my work.
