Martin Visser for 't Spectrum, dining table, wengé, stained wood, The Netherlands, 1960s Beautiful wengé dining table designed by Martin Visser in the 1960s. With its round top, divided into three parts. The exceptional base is build from three crossed interlocking legs of solid, darkened wood, that contribute to the unique and characteristic appearance of this table. The top shows an exceptional and expressive grain of this special sort of hardwood. Martin Visser (1922-2009) was a Dutch furniture-designer and art-collector. Visser started designing at young age, but most of all he was an art collector. His collection contains works of cobra, Anselm Kiefer and Keith Haring. His focus was on young and promising artist. The Kröller-Müller Museum accommodates over 400 works of Vissers art-collection. Martin Visser's career as designer started at department store De Bijenkorf. From 1955, Visser became head of production and design of ’t Spectrum. For this company Visser designed numerous items, including this table. Please note that this piece is in used condition and shows irregularities on the table top. This piece could use some touch ups. Restoration can be done before shipping by our experienced craftsmen and -women in our own in-house restoration atelier.
