Mid Century Rosewood Extending Circular Dining Table

About the Item

A superb mid century Brazilian rosewood oval dining table. Extends neatly to a circular shape using a very clever method, as shown in the video. English - Circa 1960s. The table is in very good condition, showing some light signs of use. The veneered top shows wonderful highly figured book match design. The colour has mellowed over the years and the leaf is of a very slightly different shade, but I feel this does not detract, and the overall look and colour is eye catching. The legs and frieze are made of solid rosewood, and have a good even shine, like the top. There are a few knocks where chairs have been used, and a sliver of wood has been added, please refer to photograph number 15. This was probably added when originally made, and because the colour has mellowed, it is now more visible. A piece of hard wax has been added to a very minor knock on the corner of one of the leaves, as shown in the last photograph. The table will set up to six, the Moller rosewood chairs photographed around the table are no longer available. When the leaves are stored, they are visible neatly at one end under the table top, as shown in photograph number 14. The table is 138cm extended (Round) and 113cm when the leaves are not used.
