Modern Italian Extendible Table in Concrete and Matt Glass-Bontempi Collection
About the Item
Designed by Shannon Sadler, it is a solemn table with a strong visual impact, Podium captures attention for its sinuous but austere lines. The top lays on a solid and elegant concrete base, a distinctive feature of a sculpture table with a strong personality. Bontempi concrete tops and bases are created with special non-toxic cementitious resins with quartz aggregates. The material composition allows to obtain the peculiar ultra-matt natural effect. A transparent, matt, two-component polyurethane finish prevents liquids penetration. The top and bases manufacturing is an important process of industrial craftsmanship. In particular, to create the base, the cement mixture is injected into fiberglass molds. The material flow settles, generating micro particles of air. These, solidifying, create micro concavities which give the typical raw appearance. Moreover, in the casting process, the pigment falls unevenly, creating the concrete smokey nuances. This Podium version is extendible its base is in anthracite concrete, while its barrel-shaped top is in matt anthracite velvet anti-scratch lacquered glass, a finish that makes it warm and pleasant to the touch and in which the special chemical-physical treatment, made with the innovative 'dynamic corrosion' technology, limits the creation of possible scratches. The table is 66.9"x41.7", when open it can measure up to 98.4"x41.7". The Bontempi Collection is 100% Made in Italy. Bontempi Casa is located in Camerano a village nested on the Adriatic Seaside.
