Placid Dining Table by Gentner Design

About the Item

Placid dining table by Gentner Design Dimensions: D 304 x W 116 x H 76 cm Materials: walnut, pewter Gentner Design Rooted in a language of sculpture, character defining details, and world renowned craftsmanship, the work is found at the crossroads of design and art. Established in 2011, the namesake furniture label is a rare combination of aesthetic dexterity and mastery of craft resulting in furniture and objects that are expressive, formal, and transcend materiality. The collection is based in metal and incorporates only natural materials such as leather, wood, and glass in unique ways, challenging our assumptions. Christopher Gentner Christopher Gentner, with a BFA in metalsmithing from the Cleveland Institute of Art and apprenticeships under sculptors and jewelers, together with dedication to craft, quickly developed his reputation nationally as a foremost authority of metal fabrication and furniture. One of his crowning achievements was the re-creation and fabrication of the Frank Lloyd Wright Robie House gates. These unique experiences are the foundation of his design philosophy which he employs in his own line of furniture, lighting, and objects.

  • Gubi Atmosfera Natural teak Dining Table Designed by GUBI

The tables’ simple aesthetics maintain an understated poise with a nod to classic references without being too formal. The tabletops are made from rhythmic, repeating slats of solid, premium teak, enclosed by a frame made from the same slats, giving a minimalist feel. The table legs are formed from two vertical slats, using a miter joint that creates an inverted ‘L-shape’ on each corner. Referencing architectural and maritime design, the unusual leg design provides both structural support and visual interest, giving the piece a certain lightness. Each leg protrudes slightly above the tabletop surface, culminating in a rounded detail in contrast to the geometric lines of the structure, that gives a calm composure to the design.
