Utopia Dining Table by InsidherLand Dimensions: D 115 x W 240 x H 74 cm. Materials: Dark oak veneer with open grain and polished brass. 170 kg. Also available in polished steel. Since the Renaissance, many attempts have been made to develop ideal cities in which there would live perfect and sustainable communities. The new cities were planned in rational and geometric styles, trying to reflect the new habits and evolution of societies with the aim of improving the living conditions of its inhabitants. However, due to their complexity, the vast majority of them failed to transpose the theoretical idealizations of a utopian urbanism. Reflecting the city that never was, the Utopia dining table is designed in the likeness of the architectural scale that suggests a crossing through the structures of a utopian city, organized by the principles of symmetry and ideal forms. As a futuristic project, two brass blades stylize the dark oak top, curving it with an avant-garde detail. In its base lies a passageway between four apparently identical arches, in which two of them stand impassable as symbols of discontent and visual imperfection. Created by Architect Joana Santos Barbosa in 2012, InsidherLand is a Portuguese brand of exclusive design. Drawn with the signature of the creator, the impressive range of contemporary luxury furniture, lighting, upholstery and accessories are connected to her personal memories and have been highlighted for their innovative and soulful designs. Joana explores several influences from travels around the world to define her own Land as a place that allows her to translate her perceptions into objects of art.
