Oak Gate Leg Drop Leaf Wake Dining Table, England circa 1880-1900

About the Item

This handsome gateleg dining table is also known as an English wake table with drop leaves. Notice the dark patina of the oak, aged and naturally distressed over generations of use and lovely turned legs. The large oval shaped top has 2 drop leaves, so when closed it serves as a 19.25" deep console table but expands to 54.25" deep when fully opened. Please examine the close up photos to appreciate the richness of the wood; the old scratches, nicks and marks mix with the wood grain adding depth of character. This gateleg table is just under 7' long and has been restored, is strong/stable and ready for use. All scratches, old cracks, dings, and age related separation are reflective of age and do not detract from the beauty nor function of this versatile table. Please refer to professional photos for clear understanding of color, condition, and details; photo lighting, individual monitor display and home lighting all impact how item is viewed. Photos are part of item description, please ask questions or request additional photos of specific areas if needed.
