Architectural Handcrafted Pillar Walnut End Table
About the Item
Architectural American black walnut Pillar end or side table. Designed at Sum furniture and handcrafted using traditional craftsman techniques with the finest American Black Walnut. Hand-cut oversized dovetail jointing detail with a turned American walnut upright pillar piercing through the sections secured internally with a steel bar. These are multi functioning pieces and can also be used as nightstands or end tables. Larger versions for sofa or coffee tables. These are very substantial, visibly bold and striking pieces of handmade furniture, built to last. Finished in durable natural oils.
Alternative versions in quarter-sawn oak can be seen in final images and in our other listings/storefront.
Custom dimensions are available upon request.
We design bold and distinctive pieces of furniture – our main objective is combining the design alongside the natural beauty and properties of the raw materials.
These timbers and materials are very carefully chosen for each specific design - maintaining our focus on the benefits, visual impact and strengths of what we use.
Our regular use of English Quartersawn Oak is one case in point. It has been the beloved timber of fine furniture makers across the world for centuries. It is costly to produce but gives huge benefits and rewards such as its striking medullary rays and superb stability qualities.
By utilising these wonderful and naturally occurring features with our contemporary designs we aim to continue creating some very distinct, tactile and idiosyncratic pieces.
These are all completely handmade, in very small numbers, by our skilled craftspeople in England.
