EARLY 19th CENTURY OVAL COFFEE TABLE
About the Item
Elegant and refined, this coffee table was probably designed by the architect Agostino Fantastici, known in Italy for creating the most prestigious furniture of the Tuscan nobility between the end of the 18th and the first half of the 19th century. Made entirely of solid walnut, the coffee table stands out for its finely carved and precisely crafted details. The "umbrella" base typical of the Fantastici and the amphora-shaped stem which recalls the neoclassical style are an example of this; while the feet delicately lift the structure giving it lightness. The oval top, veneered in walnut briar in segments, has a curved under-top band finished with small curls which give the table a delicate and refined appearance, as if it were lace. This unique piece of furniture, made in Tuscany around 1820, is certainly capable of adding a touch of elegance and taste to any environment.
