About the Item

Contemporary accent table comprised of a circular seeded glass top on an architectural base of perforated stainless steel. The glass is produced by crucible casting, which creates an organic rippled texture on the underside and features natural chill marks throughout. The open-worked circular pattern along the edges of the steel base is reminiscent of works from the Deco/Moderne period, though as the artist puts it, “there isn’t really one point of inspiration, rather a continually revolving string of materials, forms, imagery that gets logged in my head and finds its way out when I am drawing.” Entitled "Long Punch", this accent table feels like it exists outside of time, subtly referencing historical design periods/movements from the geometric ornamentation of the Viennese Secession to the sleekness of 1980s Minimalism. The resulting aesthetic is streamlined, industrial and multi-dimensional, evoking a certain feeling of timelessness, while retaining a fresh, contemporary presence. About the Artist: Elliot ‘EJR’ Barnes (b. 1991) is an artist and designer based in East London. Known for romantic yet pragmatic works, his auto-didactic practice is elegantly non-conformist, unbound by the emotional barriers of a formal training and somewhat undefined, existing in the gray area between decorative art and industrial design."
