About the Item

This is arguably the hardest Hawaiiana set to find, Hawaiian Hula Dancer figural coffee table and side tables, all original, 1954. In our 25 years of collecting and selling Hawaiiana this is perhaps the third full set of this design that we have seen. This three piece set is comprised of a coffee table base with original glass top and two side table bases also with original glass tops. The bases have originally built in screws that secure the glass in position. This is a wonderfully attractive and eye-catching set that brings the fun and color of Hawaiian representation into a space with an artisan sensibility. The Wahines (Females) are resplendent in their hula skirts and lei's. The Kahunas (Males) are serene in their repose. Wonderfully painted and sculptured with proud Hawaiian character. The girls beautiful with majestic, reflective facial expressions, the boys proud and knowing. A sheer delight. This set will mix into a variety of decor settings. It has a remarkable presence and is both cheerful and understated simultaneously. This set can be cleverly placed to blend in settings with contemporary, modern, deco, Mid-Century, traditional or of course island or ranch style furnishings. From the collection of a preeminent Hawaiian collector we are proud to offer this set of Hawaiian Hula figural tables. Marked "CALAMP '54 c.” Condition: This set has a stunning original patina. There are small cracks, chips, paint loss and an overall patina of wear from being proudly used over the past 60+ years. The importance of this set is that it is exceedingly rare and all original and charming. Should the purchaser feel it necessary for refurbishment we can offer the services of a restoration expert. We are happy to offer additional detail photos to serious parties. Measurements: Wahines Hula Lady coffee table base: 34 inches wide x 12 inches deep, figures: 18.75 inches H, glass 58.5 inches wide x 29 inches deep x .25 inches thick. Kahunas Hula Man side table, each base: 12 inches; wide x 12 inches deep, figure: 21.25 inches high, glass 26 inches wide x 18.5 deep x .25 inches thick.
