KILN DRIED Our stumps all go through a drying process in our kiln, sometimes for up to a month. We are meticulous with bringing each and every log to a specific moisture level. This process helps with major cracking, long-term moisture issues, and bugs. ECO FRIENDLY In an effort to replenish the trees we use, we plant 50+ trees a year. In addition, we practice salvage logging. Where do we source these? Some of the trees fall naturally. Some have damage from severe wind, lightning, flood, disease, or other natural disturbance so they need to be cut and removed before they fall. Others are fresh cut because people want them off their land. Salvage logging may reduce erosion, reduce intensity of future wildfires, and slow buildup of pest insects. FAMILY OWNED These are made from our family to yours. Quality is of utmost importance, and we hand cut, de-bark, sand, and finish every piece with care. COMMERCIAL GRADE These stumps are meant to be loved and USED. Each is finished with a durable commercial-grade finish. This table is inspired by the forms and sensibilities of Shaker furniture. In all Shaker communities, everything created was made to be used and sometimes the same item was used for various different tasks. Here, artist Jim Rose puts his spin on the shaker table by using naturally rusted steel. This highly versatile table will add interest and functionality to any room. After one year at Bard College, Jim transferred to the School of the Art Institute in Chicago (SAIC) where he graduated in 1988 with a BFA. His skillful interpretation of the Shaker design is a result of intense research and field study of Shaker furniture, architecture, culture and history. After over two decades of dedicated work, he has mastered the minimalism of the Shaker technique and created his own unique visual vernacular. The quilts of Gee's Bend have become a monumental influence taking this artist's work to new levels of unique interpretation and artistry. His selection of aged steel results in a patina directly related to that of aged wood while his colored strips beautifully mimic worn cloth. Well it’s 2023, and Broyhill’s Chapter One Collection is officially harder to find and more sought after than the Raymond Loewy orginals. With all due respect to Raymond Loewy, there really is something magical about the Chapter One line. Maybe they’re just more fun and approachable. Maybe it’s the proportions and practicality. Regardless, they’re one of our favourite collections of all time. The restoration team pulled no punches on this nightstand, and the end result exceeded our expectations. Every inch of the wood body and base was professionally sanded, primed and painted to match the original bright white. The laminate top and dark lime green molded plastic drawer fronts were finally buffed and polished to a glassy shine. It’s tough to see these go, but we know it will be loved.
