About the Item
Elegant German Biedermeier chess table made around 1830. The table is crafted in walnut veneer with a beautifully inlaid marquetry chessboard made of walnut and maple. The craftsmanship reflects the refined simplicity typical of the Biedermeier period, with clean lines and a balanced sense of proportion. It stands on four elegantly tapered legs and features a full-width drawer on one side, providing storage for chess pieces or small accessories. The warm color of the walnut contrasts harmoniously with the lighter maple squares, creating a striking geometric pattern. Restored and hand-polished, the table presents a smooth surface and a rich natural sheen. Two feet were partly repaired in the past, but the table remains solid and stable. A fine and authentic piece that can be used both as a functional chess table and as an elegant accent table.
