19th Century Rare and Exquisite Venetian Acrobat Pedestal

About the Item

Decorated with vibrant colors this splendid and rare pedestal in the shape of an acrobat, is probably the work of some venetian artist. Its hands rest in equilibrium , on some juggler's balls and carries on its feet, the rich, ornate, gilded, crimson plush( original), table top. Itself, resting on the acrobat arched body, holding on its hands. A gueridon of this type, was probably not the object of mass production, but we can reasonably assume, it was created, in the middle of the 19th c.,for some eccentric client. The first ''acrobats'' date back to seventeenth century Italy. Featured on one of the images with a giant ''Millifiori'' sphere, as it is presented in our Paris apartment décor, for a unique and poetic interior... Peint de couleurs brillantes, ce splendide et rarissime, guéridon en forme d’acrobate, est sans doute l’œuvre, de quelque artiste vénitien. Les mains, reposent en équilibre, sur des balles de jongleur et il porte sur ses pieds, tel un équilibriste, le riche plateau orné, en peluche cramoisie (d’origine). Le plateau, lui-même, est soutenu, par un piètement, en partie formé, par le corps de l’acrobate se tenant sur les mains. Un guéridon de ce style, ne fut certainement pas l’objet d’une production de masse, mais vraisemblablement créé au milieu du 19ème s. à l’intention de quelque client excentrique. L’habitude de créer des piédestaux en forme d’acrobate, remonte à l’ Italie du 17ème s. Nous l'avons présenté sur l'une des photographies, tel qu'il est montré dans notre appartement- showroom parisien , un intérieur unique et rempli de poésie...

Wear consistent with age and use. Minor losses. Minor structural damages. Minor fading. The crimson plush top plateau worn but original and still looking very '' right'' on that piece, even though the wooden parts have been cleaned and restored.
