Carved Gueridon by Gabriele Capello

About the Item

Handsome gueridon by the acclaimed Italian furniture maker Gabriele Capello. This significant piece features a stunning carved base and a deeply carved frieze. The striking carving is accented throughout with delicate and detailed marquetry inlay. Topped with beautifully grained grey marble. Capello (1806-1877) was a furniture maker to the Italian royal palaces of Turin, Savoy and Sardinia. Known as Moncalvo, she was a leading light in Italian cabinet-making and collaborated with Pelagio Pelagi numerous times. This piece has immense decorative power and represents an important work.
