X- Frame Trestle Table

About the Item

A long X-frame primitive trestle table with an aviator-style table top. The long base is made of pine planks and strengthened with parallel stretches, crudely but expertly made. The top is made of three fruitwood planks that have been fixed and fluted together before being covered in chrome sheets that have been riveted together. The table was estate made at a chateau in northern France, where it was used at weddings and functions on the estate. Due to the table’s length, it makes a wonderful serving or presentation table, ideal for use in a retail or commercial setting. The table was used to serve guests with champagne on arrival at the venue and the previous owner said that it could comfortably hold one hundred and fifty glasses on its chrome top. Sturdy with age-related wear due to its previous use. The top is removable from its base for easy transportation. A unique piece ready for its new home.
