Early 20th Century Art Nouveau Pedestals, style Jacques Gruber, in Carved mahogany. Polished to wax. Measures cm: H 130 Diam. 40 Diam. internal 20/18. About Jacques Gruber Jacques Grüber (25 January 1870 – 15 December 1936) was a French woodworker and glass artist. Grüber was born in Sundhouse (Alsace). After starting his training at the Fine Arts School of Nancy , where he would later be a teacher, he followed his learning with Gustave Moreau in Paris thanks to a student grant of Nancy. In 1893, he made some decorations for Daum, some furniture for Majorelle and book covers for René Wiener. In 1897, he founded his own studio where he specialised in glass working and stained glass windows, and in 1901 he was one of the founders of the École de Nancy. In 1914, he moved to Paris where he opened a studio in the 14th arrondissement. He died in Paris. His son Francis Gruber was a famous painter and his son Jean-Jacques Grüber, was also a glass artist like his father.

    Early 1900, Art Nouveau period, Venetian Gueridon column display pedestal attributed to the Vincenzo Cadorin school , in hand-carved walnut. Measures cm: Height 108, diameter 30. Cadorin Vincenzo (1854-1925) Venetian sculptor born in 1854, he was trained in the studio of Benvenuti, he then studied at the Venetian Academy. In 1883 he exposed his first works in Rome and in the next year he won the Gold Medal in the exposure in Turin. (Luisa GIORDANO, Cadorin, Vincenzo, in Biographic Dictionary of the Italians, XVI, Rome 1973, p. 97). His most known work is the gilt carved wooden desk given to the Pope Pio X for his sacerdotal jubilee in 1908; the desk is now in the Basilica della Salute in Venice. He died in 1925.
