French Sellette Beech & Chestnut Eagle Heads Feathers & Lion Paws 19th Century

About the Item

This plant holder or sellette was made in the middle oh the 19th century. The legs of this harness make this table a unique piece of furniture: at the top, each leg begins with an eagle's head with a severe gaze, which is extended by a collar of feathers. At the level of the lower shelf, feathers are carved. Finally each foot ends in lion paws. This beautifully crafted harness came out of a workshop using a monogram with the letters GP surmounted by a crown and surrounded by a circle of pearls (please see last photo). Of unknown geographical origin, this table was found in a castle in La Chalosse (North of the Pyrenees, France) Good condition. Shipping: D 42 H 82.5 cm 4.1 kg.
